About Shawn Dassie
Tactical Human Performance was built on a simple principle: readiness is developed through preparation.
The work
Shawn Dassie is a human performance professional specializing in tactical performance, mission readiness, and resilience-based training systems.
His work focuses on developing individuals who face demanding physical and occupational challenges, including military personnel, first responders, tactical professionals, athletes, and individuals pursuing higher levels of performance.
The mission of Tactical Human Performance is to help people build the physical capability, resilience, and confidence required to perform when demands increase.
The approach
Performance is not created through random workouts. It is developed through intentional systems.
Tactical Human Performance integrates strength and conditioning, exercise science, readiness principles, and practical coaching experience to develop programs that prepare individuals for real-world demands.
The goal is not simply fitness.
The goal is readiness.
Experience
Throughout his career, Shawn has worked across multiple performance environments.
That range built a broad understanding of human performance, from developing foundational movement and physical capacity to preparing individuals for the highest levels of demand.
Different populations have different goals. The principles remain the same.
Develop capacity.
Build resilience.
Improve readiness.
Education and applied science
Shawn's approach is built on the connection between science and application. He earned his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Exercise and Sport Science from Iowa State University.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F), National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Coursework taught at the university level:
Exercise physiology
Biomechanics
Strength and conditioning
Motor development
Measurements and evaluation
Wellness and health-related performance
Teaching future professionals reinforced the importance of translating evidence into practical solutions.
Tactical performance first
Tactical Human Performance serves a wide range of individuals, but the foundation of the system comes from preparing people for demanding environments.
The development of OTPS
OTPS was created to provide a structured framework for tactical human performance, and a repeatable approach for developing individuals who must perform in demanding environments.
The philosophy
That mission may be military service, public safety, athletic performance, career development, or personal improvement. The preparation process should reflect the demands of that mission.
Tactical Human Performance exists to provide the structure, knowledge, and systems required to prepare with purpose.
Develop individuals capable of meeting demanding physical and performance requirements.
Apply evidence-informed human performance principles to build strength, resilience, and mission readiness.
Prepared individuals with the capability, confidence, and resilience required to perform when it matters most.
